Hey Brewers,

I have a couple quick questions on bottling for those who have time to answer them!

1. I plan on keeping a few bottles of every batch until my Oktoberfest party. I'll be using 1 liter plastic (Mr. Beer) bottles, I've reused these twice already, I'm curious if the beer will hold til late September in these?

2. Second, I'm gonna be making an Oktoberfest Lager in March, and holding it until late September in 16oz. swing top bottles, will I need to add yeast into them at bottling time?, or will they hold up til then?

Thanks again!

I can answer your 1st question. Should last fine as long it stays in the dark and in a place that stays a consistent temp. If had beer I've forgotten about for a year left in the closet turn out amazing

Never down a lager so I will let someone else know

Beer doesn't hold up well in plastic bottles over long term aging. It seems to me Cooper's said 8 months max with their PET bottles. I prefer glass for anything that's gunna sit for even a few months. Short term 2-3 months is ok with PET bottles,in my experience. Glass for anything beyond that. I haven't even used my PET bottles since my 2nd batch. I save them for if/when I brew 5 or 6 batches back to back,& need them to finish bottling. 45 25oz bottles can come in handy once in a while...
