Hi

So far I am using grand smith, but Cider taste is not as rich as the cider you can get in UK/France/Spain

what would the best cider apple trees to plant and grow in southern Mediterranean climates?

e.g South california weather (not the desert areas); southern Greece, southern italy, turkey ...

Many thank,
maroun

Pink Lady is another hot weather apple. Self-fruitful. USDA Zones 6 - 9 I really like Liberty, but they take 800 hrs of chilling.

thanks for the answer;
what do mean by 800 hrs of chilling?
I can get pink lady around here, does it yield richer cider than grand smith?

Chill hours are hours below 40 F . You will need to do some research on chill hours for your area . I'm in Florida and my chill hours are about 400 on paper , but haven't had over 100 in a few years. With out chill your trees will not know to flower and thus will not produce fruit. I have two very pretty trees , but no apples.

I have one Anna and one Dorset .

Good luck :)
