Chopping/pureeing whole hops

I have trouble siphoning around the whole hops when I use them for dry hopping. So I chopped them in the food processor before adding them. Has anyone done this?

I am not sure if it will clear, and I would like a clear beer. I do not keg, but I could use geletin and stick the secondary in the fridge if needed.

Any thoughts on this?

That's a good idea to chop them.

I'll just go ahead and say that I never expect a clear beer when dry hopping - in fact, I consider the hop-haze a sign of distinction! I'm not sure how much gelatin helps with hop haze, but it will certainly clear up something. At worst, it's not going to hurt anything - actually, I'm wondering if it will pull out some of the hop flavor? Give it a try.

Does it fit the end of an autosiphon?

That looks good. It has structure, so it will not be pulled tight around the cane. Have you used it?

I have put a nylon hop bag on the end, and that doesn't help too much. It slows the siphon until it eventually stops.

Use it all the time. It can be set to keep racking cane off the trub also. Don't know about the auto siphon idea Revvy...
