I wanted to get everyones thoughts on chocolate malt. What type of flavor do most of you get from this malt in low dosages like 4 or so oz in 5 gallons? Is it more roasty or does it give any chocolate flavor at all? I have read both and was just wondering what most of you have tasted by using this malt in low quantities.
 
i just brewed a brown nut ale with 0.5 oz chocolate malt in a 5.5 gallon batch. it was my first time using chocolate malt, and i can definitely smell the chocolate. although my beer is still a little green, i get more of a roasty flavor with a tad bit of chocolate.
