Has anyone else tried this? I think it's a really, really good beer. I'd like to see a clone recipe for this, if any one has one. If not, maybe I can get some info from the brewery themselves.

:)

Not a clone recipe, but based on Brooklyn's description:

Volume 5 gallons
Boil volume 7 gallons
Mash 1.5 qts./lb., 150 degF, 1 hour

Fermentables
Maris Otter 9.5 lbs.
Aromatic 1 lb.
CaraRed 8 oz.
C40L 4 oz.
C80L 4 oz.
Roasted barley 2 oz.

Hops
Pilgrim, 0.5 oz., 30 min.
Willamette, 1 oz., 30 min.
Amarillo, 0.5 oz., 15 min.
Cascade, 0.5 oz., 15 min.
Mosaic, 0.5 oz., 15 min.
Amarillo, 0.5 oz., 5 min.
Cascade, 0.5 oz., 5 min.
Mosaic, 0.5 oz., 5 min.
Dry hop with 1.5 oz. Pilgrim 3-7 days

Yeast Wyeast 1450 Denny's or Danstar BRY-97. Both give more fruitiness than US-05, both attenuate well.

OG 1065 (approx. 15.5 deg Plato, Brooklyn lists 15.4 deg Plato for Defender)
FG 1015
ABV 6.6 (Brooklyn lists 6.7 for Defender)
IBU 72
SRM 14

Interesting! Thanks for that.

I did see the 6-pack carrier, it claims the malts are Pilsner, Crisp, Carared, & Crystal and the hops are Pilgrim, Williamette, Cascade, Mosaic, & Amarillo.

Looks like the hops would be right on, but the malts are a little off. Still, it's more than I had before! Again, thanks.

Where do you think I got my information? :)

Crisp is a maltster, not a malt. Pilsner is harder to find than plain pale two-row - you could just do a straight swap. The C in C40L and C80L stands for Crystal. Aromatic is the American version of melanoidin.

I didn't know Crisp was a maltster, but I did know about the "C" standing for either Crystal or Cara-, depending on brand.

I wonder why roasted barley isn't on the list I saw? I see it on the link you provided, I just wonder why they didn't put it on the 6-pack label, where I saw all the others.

Why would you add your first hops to the wort with only 30 minutes left of the boil? Does this make the smooth a smoother taste?
