I am brewing an IPA and for whatever reason ended up brewing way too much. Instead of dumping the remaining wort (1.5L), I decided to put it in the flask I used to make my starter. Both the carboy and the flask immediately took off and I'm losing some of the beer in my carboy due to foam-over.

When primary fermentation is over, do you think I could decant off the beer from the flask into the carboy (assuming there are no funky odors coming from the flask)? Or would that be a bad idea?

Assuming the fermentation temperature for the flask was in-bounds for the yeast, and sanitation was at least as well done as with the carboy, you have the same beer in both, so why not combine them.

Just don't break sanitation...

Cheers!
