I found these two bench cappers while hunting around the internet:

Any of you guys had any experience with these? Leaving aside price for a moment, which of the two do you think would make for the most hassle free bottling experience?

ALSO: I know a lot of people like using cappers like the Super Agata, or little hand-held jobs like the Red Baron--no need to suggest them as alternatives. I'm really just interested in peoples' thoughts / opinions / ideas for these two bad boys.

My mother-in-law gave me her grandfather's bench capper. He used to brew his own during prohibition. It's just like these, only made of cast iron and steel. It's a beast. I love it.

My first bench capper was also made of cast iron. I think it was used to cap home brewed soda during the prohibition era.

I have the second one. With the blue riser. It is awesome. Built like a tank. Real time saver on bottling day. Caps go on perfect with no divot on the top. Buying again I might pay the extra for the chrome one as height adjustment is not as easy as it might be with the blue one. It is still awesome and if your bottles are all same size it is perfect. I also like that it has the bell for the larger bottle caps. Ive got a few champagne bottles around for sours that take those.

Either one will last you a lifetime. Also check out Grifo Cappers. I bought their $45 model and it much more solid than my buddy's Ferrari Agata. Even the $45 model has a heavy duty capper bell.....not the thin bell that lower price Cappers have. Your money, your choice. JMO

+1 on this. I love this thing. It makes bottling a breeze. I don't bother using the jig for centering bottles--I have a wide range of bottles and it was a pain trying to sort bottles ahead of time by width. I just eyeball position and let the capper move the bottle as it comes down.

One note. If you have a range of bottle heights, I found it goes faster to cap all the bottles of one height before changing the height (actually, after awhile I just weeded out all my stubbies and now just have one height of bottles).
