Recoverable deadspace = less deadspace.
For instance, if you have 2 quarts of deadspace in your MLT, but you can "recover" 1 quart of that then you only have 1 quart of deadspace in your MLT. You would simply use 1 quart in your equipment profile Lauter Tun Deadspace.

I just read a post today asking about "slackspace" which is a serious consideration I haven't come across yet but should be addressed since I can see it affecting many people. Is this what you're up against?

No, it's not that simple, I have a gallon and recover all of it. It makes the strike temps and grain ratio screwy.
No, that isn't my situation. What I'm trying to do is figure out a way to have BeerSmith tell me what my Mash Efficiency is and let me manipulate it. For example if a certain recipe came up with 60% Mash Efficiency and I wanted to have 70%, I could change 60 to 70 in it's box and then it would automatically change everything else in the recipe for me. Maybe I'm thinking too much into this.
Are you dealing with the slack space issue mentioned in my previous reply then? If so, it sounds like there's no robust way of dealing with the issue at the present time than to simply "remember" to add your slack space addition to mash, and "remember" to subtract it from your sparge volume.

You can then formulate your recipe at 60% brewhouse efficiency (i.e. mash eff at this point). If you then change your eff to 70, you can see what your estimated OG slider changes to. Now go back to 60 eff, click on the slider, and change the gravity to what 70 eff indicated, hit okay, and the recipe should adjust including hops. It's a clunky way of accomplishing the task - if I understand your needs correctly.
