Bayou Classic - Blowing itself out

So, I just bought the Bayou Classic and am using it for the first time today. It has blown itself out about 12 times (and once now while I was typing this up). Right now it is under a keggle, and earlier it was under my 8 gal HLT and we had the same issue. We have the burner about 3 feet from the wide open garage door, but there is no wind in Tacoma today.

Has anyone had issues like this before?
Is this normal? is there anything I can do to reduce it happening that will also not have an impact on the amount of O2 it sucks into to burn?

Any advice?

You need to adjust the damper plate on the air intake

How should I adjust it? Right now I have it wide open so both of the openings can suck in as much O2 as necessary.

Close it about halfway.
