Like most homebrewers, I have dreamt of the day when my aging room would be stacked to the ceiling with oak barrels. The thought of dozens of beers aging away, souring, picking up hits of vanilla and oak. Well, a few days ago, my first barrel arrived at my mailbox and it seemed my dreams had come true but... What do I do with it? I have read I need to wash it with hot water and pbw cleaner, I can't store it empty, are there any forums out there addressing these topics? Help me homebrew brethren. The fate of an innocent barrel hangs in the balance! How to I manage my barrel?
