I just received a shipment of hops. I have never used hop plugs before, but something doesn't seem right about these cascade hops.

The one on the left looks ok, but the one on the right looks a little funky. Should I ask to send these back?

the one on the right does look a little oxidized from light or air exposure.

does it smell ok? if it smells normal its ok to use. 'bad' hops will lack the hop smell, and have a 'cheesy' smell instead.

There doesn't seem to be much smell at all. I've never used cascade so I don't know if there should be a strong or subtle aroma.

Yea the one on the right looks like Mexican brick weed. You should definitely tell your dealer that that one's not going to work. If there's no aroma, combined with it looking yellow, they probably aren't good any more. I'll bet it's full of stems and seeds too.
