I've pretty much hit my goal of a dozen trees each of traditional U.K., French, and US cider varieties, but I can't resist the urge to make more. This year I traded some scions with folks on the NA Scion Exchange Facebook group, plus picked up a few from Fedco and CiderAuction. For my apples, I'll be re-using rootstock from a couple failed attempts last year plus some extras I had planted. I'll also graft onto an established crabapple.

I have pear, cherry, plum and apricot scions coming too. I had some pear rootstock available, but ordered new for the others.

Anyone else grafting this spring?

Here is a pic for your inspiration. B118 rootstock from Fedco and Chestnut Crab scion grafted on with a whip-n-tongue graft.

My stone fruit rootstock just shipped. I'll be out of town for business next week, so looks like it'll be next weekend's entertainment. I did harvest a half dozen decent sized M7 suckers plus a bunch of little ones to plant for future stock.
