Has anyone used agave in their beer?Any problems associated with it?

I added a jar to a cerveza kit - at flame out - and it resulted in a nasty sweet flavor that has only mellowed slightly with age. I used a 24oz ? Jar of agave nectar...beer fermented well but I don't like the flavor at all....occasionally I'll drink one to see if its improved and end up adding lime juice to it.

If you add it to the boil it will give you nothing but more fermentables. Most of the flavor and aroma will boil off. Post boil you may get some flavor contribution, but it depends on the processing. It's pretty much like any sugar and is mostly fermentable. The potential will be somewhere around 1.034 - 1.036.

I've used Agave, adding it at flame out. I added it at about 6% of the fermentable in an IPA recipe. It dried the finish out a bit but really did not come through strongly in the flavor.
