If I have had an imperial stout sitting in primary for two and a half weeks and it has long since reached it's final gravity, is it too late to rack the beer onto some fruit. In this case, I have some cherry puree. I know you want to get some additional fermentation of the sugars from the fruit so my concern would be that the yeast will have settled out too much to kickstart the second round so to speak. Then again, you can usually spark a secondary fermentation in a bottle even with several weeks of primary and clear beer so maybe it's not an issue?

You shouldn't rack to secondary until it hits FG. I racked a stout recently, half onto blueberries, half onto cherries. Both are fermenting, but the cherry is much more active due to higher sugar content.
