Hi there

I am going to be racking my batch into a secondary fermenter tomorrow, and I am wondering if I can put the next batch directly into the original primary fermentor, thus re-using the yeast?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

You can, but it's not good practice. You'll be massively over pitching (way too much yeast) and the yeast cake will be full of dead yeast, hop residue and other crap. If you want to reuse yeast you should wash and measure it first so you know your pitching rate. See the yeast washing thread in the stickies.

As a side note, why are you transferring your first brew to a secondary? There are very few reasons to bother doing this. Leave it on the yeast until it's done then bottle.

Or, don't wash, but transfer 2/3 to a sterilized mason jar, then pitch on the remaining third, and keep the rest in the fridge for a future batch.
