1/3 rule

I am not at all new to wine making and I have seen several post lately referring to 1/3 rule and have never heard of such . Is it a beer make thing some people are applying to wine? If it is a rule, why havent I heard it.Enlighten me and then explain why it exists and why it matters?????

Keep 1/3 for ageing, give 1/3 away and drink 1/3?

Seems to be about how my winemaking goes.

I never get 1/3 to aging and if I drank 1/3 I would be dead. I made 120 gallons last year. 1/3 would be 40 gallons.

No one said to drink it all at once or by yourself.

That being said... I have never heard of this 1/3 rule.

I've heard of splitting your nutrients between ferment start, and 1/3 complete.

By the time I get a glass and pour a round, I don't even get 1/10 of it.
