I think I need to run a bulkhead through my Keezer collar in order to get gas from the externally mounted primary regulator/co2 tank into the interior. I have a dual hinged keezer and need to get co2 through the collar. The collar is 1x8 pine which puts its actual thickness at .75" (pretty thin). I am planning on putting 1.5" foam insulation inside it.

I believe a 4" MFL Bulkhead may be too thick (especially if a swivel flare is added). Anyone run something like the following 2 7/8" bulkhead through the collar + insulation?

I have 5/16 ID Gas line so I would could put a 5/16 swivel nut on both sides and then run a gas line to the manifold on the interior and maybe a quick disconnect on the primary so that I could quickly remove the co2 tank + regulator yet keep the system closed.

So I could put female barb swivel nuts on each side like this?

I guess I'm just trying to avoid having gas line enter the keezer and then stick way out? Is there an easy way to put a shank or bulkhead through the collar (which may move as it is a dual hinge build) and then have a right angle connection into the manifold?

Can anyone recommend any specific parts? I've been through a million threads and I guess I just need specifics.

Maybe my way gives you an idea.
I used a standard beer shank. The shortest shank I have seen is 2" long.

Bought all my hardware from HD. 3" brass nipples, 3/8" barbs, and stainless washers. Have high and low pressure CO2 and Nitro plumbed through. Works great for me and was pretty simple to set up. I also used a 1x8 collar and 1" rigid foam. Hope that helps!ImageUploadedByHome Brew1392793522.535775.jpgImageUploadedByHome Brew1392793548.270058.jpgImageUploadedByHome Brew1392793584.671007.jpg

Your build is one of the posts that I've been studying. It looks like you have some cool push connects and I love the quick disconnects. That said, I don't have an extra beer shank to spare. Is your gas tubing 5/16 ID by any chance (it looks thinner)? I would like to do something similar with a quick disconnect attached to the regulator. Are you happy with your quick disconnect or do you wish you had gone with metal?

Ok, so if I run to home depot I would need?

Watts 3/8 in. x 3 in. Lead-Free Brass Pipe Nipple

Any way you could link the other parts from the Home Depot website? Is that a 90 degree female elbow attached to the nipple? Do you have 5/16 ID Tubing?

5/16" ID is the size and I am happy with the plastic disconnects.

Hose - Yes, just the standard 5/16 ID gas hose from KegConnection (as well as the manifolds w/ barbs. You'll also need to pick up a baggy of SS hose clamps too (pretty sure this is the correct link below)...some thread tape and washers too!

Hope this helps. Remember that you have double of everything too, for the inside/outside of the collar. Any other Q's please let me know...more than happy to help!

Less connections, less leakage problems. I'd drill a hole, run the gas line through it and then seal it up with foam insulation spray.

Um....ok. If only the results didn't look like crap.

If you can't manage to get an MFL bulkhead gas tight, you probably shouldn't be kegging...

Cheers!

This is awesome, thanks a ton!

Incidentally, I went to Lowes and they didn't have a 3" Nipple--biggest 3/8 Nipple was 2.5". So for anyone else looking for this at a big box store, Home Depot may be your best bet.

You will definitely want to dip the gas tubing in some boiling water prior to sliding over the 3/8" barbs. It's a bit tighter than the 5/16" keg + manifolds disconnects. Post some pics when finished...
