Hi Everyone,

I'm a noob, and am easing away from the Mr. Beer kit. With that being said, I am looking for an inexpensive (but quality) hydrometer. any suggestions?

George

The deluxe version has a thermometer built in, nice to have all in one to help any temp conversion needed.

Most are glass and you'll be breaking them. For 2011 i broke one and the wife dropped another (2011 isn't over yet so there's still time for me to get a 3rd!). Coopers makes a plastic one that's much more durable.

IMHO hydrometers are pretty essential and the price ranges from (included in a kit) to say $30. I would go with the $30 one and take very good care of it.

YMMV of course and IDRGAF

Thank you all for responding.... :) Another noob question... I guess this means that it IS ok to open the LBK to take a measurement??? I have read in multiple places not to do this...
