Using a free brewing calculator can help you with that, and you can play with it to see how various hops look and how the amount of malt changes the OG.

Well it's certainly better than my first batch but it has no real hop profile at all
I've downloaded beer smith and am going to have a go of doing an imperial ipa

Do i need a secondary fermenter or can I leave in primary
 
Secondary isn't really necessary and you can usually skip it unless you are doing long term aging with oak chips or fruit or something like that.
