I'm a sucker for optical illusions, so I figured I'd share one of my favorites.

Instructions:
Focus on the black "+" in the center of the screen. You'll notice that the empty space circling the dots will turn green. Continue to focus and all of the pink dots will disappear.

I think this is pretty cool. Anyone else dig illusions?

They are opposing colors. The rods and cones in your eyes "burn out" diffrent colors.

This illusion is happening because of the light sensitive cells in your retina called rods and cones.

In your periphery you have far fewer cones to detect colour. The pink dots stimulate these few cones and soon they become tired. They stop sending signals to your brain so you no longer see the pink dots.

When you move your eye to look directly at the pink dots, you are stimulating different ‘fresh’ cones – which send signals to your brain and suddenly you see the pink dots.
