Just making my second batch of beer and I was given finnings in my first pack but obviously my ingredients didn't come with it. I'm getting to the stage where finnings should be added in the next couple of days... Do I need them, what does it do to the taste of the beer or does it just make it less cloudy/let the yeast settle quicker?

It just makes it clearer for the normal brews. I dry hopped one time and the particles were floating everywhere so I added the gelatin fining to get them to settle out. Usually, I just use irish moss in the boil.

I don't use it and I find that it does not do anything to the flavour.

All it does is help settle the solids and make your beer clear.

I might be crude, but I don't even pour into glas/jug anymore, I just down it all with all its goodness.
