I am looking or some inexpensive digital temp displays for my upcoming brew sculpture. can anyone make a recomendation? I dont want a PID or controller, jsut a display. I'm having a tough time finding one on ebay or even google search. I would prefer RTD input.

I found some on ebay... I don't think they get much cheaper than this:
http://cgi.ebay.com/LCD-Digital-Fri...896?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4aa573aac0

But here was my search query:
lcd thermometer

then sorted by price+shipping lowest, and showed only buy it now stuff.

I have not personally tested any of these, but they are dirt cheap and will probably be close enough.

The only downside I see right away is the temp range only goes up to 70°C, which is about 158°F. So you might browse around a little more and see if one goes higher than that.

So that would be a digital thermometer that uses a thermistor probe if I understand correctly.

OTOH, for about the same price you can buy a Love controller which can do double duty as a controller and a temp monitor for about the same price.

i guess what i'm looking for is a display similar to an AUber or a Love without the control logic. Something that i can put in a panel and run an RTD or somthing to my HLT,MT,and BK.

That's kind of what I was getting at. There's more to a temperture display than just the read out. When using an RTD, there needs to be a current sent through the RTD and some kind of circuitry to interpret the returning signal and feed the result to the display. IOW, a Love controller is both an RTD thermometer and a controller in one unit. No reason why you could not use it as a stand alone thermometer.

Take a look at the BCS thingy. It will do all of that stuff and more and it's expandable. http://www.embeddedcontrolconcepts.com/index.php/
