So I'm thinking about brewing myself an Oktoberfest beer this year, and since my birthday usually falls within the Oktoberfest time (Sept. 19), I'm going to call it "Mark-toberfest" (my first name being "Mark").

Anybody got any good recipes? Also... when would be a good time to brew it? Early June? Now? March?

I made 2 different ones for this october and both are now gone...
extract, partial, or all grain?

a simple extract/partial recipe is

5lb light DME
3.3lb munich amber LME
steep: 150 degrees for 45min
.5 lb cracked wheat (head)
.5 lb dextrine
.5 lb 10L
.5 lb 2-row

Hops:
1.0 oz Hallertau @ 60min
1.0 oz Tettneng @ 60min
.5 oz Hallertau @ 30min
.5 oz Hallertau @ 15min
1tsp irish moss @ 15min

I used ale yeast (s-04) and was great...should probably use a lager yeast :)

OG - 1.058
FG - 1.015

was very good...
