I need to make a yeast starter from some WP011 that I saved and washed from a previous batch. I don't have an elrenmeyer flask or any other container with a stopper/airlock. The best I can do is a mason jar but I'm afraid if I seal it, I may get too much pressure inside and I don't want the bottle to burst. Any suggestions?

leave the top off and cover it with plastic wrap

OR

use a beer bottle or growler with an airlock/bung attached to mouth.

OR

I just use a pyrex measuring glass and use plastic wrap to cover it.

I use empty plastic gallon water jugs (given how much water I use brewing, I have them laying around in spades). A plus is that the drilled bungs that fit in your carboy will probably fit in the mouth of the jug, so you can put an airlock on it and then you'll be able to monitor fermentation activity...
