Hey Folks,

I've got a quick question.

I just bought a 2-gallon fermentation bucket with drilled and grommeted lid for small cider batches. I pitched a full tube of White Labs Sweet Mead yeast into a little under 1.5 gallons of White House AJ. The lower amount of AJ is because I plan on using a 1 gallon secondary.

Anyway, the lid on the fermentation bucket doesn't fit as snug as I'd like, and pulls right off with zero effort. It seems to me that this is probably allowing some air to enter and exit the bucket, bypassing the airlock. I've got some books on it to push it down, and I only plan on keeping it in the primary for 3-4 weeks, will this pose a major issue? I've made cider a few times before, but I normally don't use a plastic primary.

The fermentation is going well, btw.

Nice to meet you all, and thanks for your advice.
