No. Dishwashers won't clean the insides of bottles because hardly any water will get in through the hole in the neck. If you want to use PBW to clean the bottles, soak them in a bucket, bathtub or sink. You could also use oxiclean or bleach in the same way. Whichever you use, you will need to give the bottles a really good rinse before sanitizing.

yes you can just rinse the bottles first.

i recently soaked my bottles with one capfull of starsan to 20 gallons of water in my antique iron tub that has a porcelain finish. well it looks like where the bubbles were in the water, it kinda ate thru the finish of the porcelain. mom in law wasn't too happy.
