Does anyone know if this has viable dregs?

The Mad Fermentationist has one of Evil Twins beers listed as being unpasteurized with Brett in it. But he doesn't have sour bikini listed.

I have a bottle. Never tasted it, but if I can get dregs from it, then when I open this bottle, I'll have some starter wort ready. Anyone know if Evil Twin Sour Bikini has bugs in it?

I pitched the dregs into 150 ml of wort, and that took off within a day. Same thing after stepping up to a quart.

I hope I'm not just growing up champagne yeast or something.

Haha that's a legit concern. There's a good chance you're growing mostly sacc with a tiny about of brett in there, if any. Just buy a vial of a pure brett of your choice and keep stepping it up for multiple batches if that's your goal.

Sour bikini dregs...that does not conjure up good images in my head. ;-)

For the record, I figured I'd report back: this never soured. The stepped up starter, given plenty of time, just tasted clean as can be. I'm sure it was just a clean bottling yeast, no LAB.
