Adding flavoring to primary

I am making a Magic Hat #9 clone which is 1.5 weeks in fermenter and I was planning on racking to secondary and adding apricot extract on Thursday for 5 days. This is the 3rd time I've used flavoring in the secondary and was just curious on why you dont add flavoring to the primary?
 
The best time actually to add fruit extract is at bottling. Just add it to your priming solution. The later in the process you add it the better flavor your going to get.
