what are you guys doing to connect 3/16 ID hose to the picnic taps that are readily available which all seem to have a 1/4 barbed fitting? do you have some transitional adapter, or are you just stretching the hose and forcing it to fit?

I tried to run 1/4" hose from my kegs, but I am getting too much foam, because the line is only about 5 ft.

also what kind of hose (material) are you using if you are using 3/16 hose on 1/4" barbed fittings?

Just heat some water in a coffee cup in the microwave till it boils. Then stick the end of the 3/16" hose in the hot water for 1 min. Then it will just slide on. You can put a clamp on or just leave it off. I have a few without clamps and they dont leak at 8-12psi.
