Is it me or does this thing just finish super sweet, super thick and not quite bitter enough to balance? Flavor is completely dominated by the malt and the aroma to me smells only of chinook.
 
i definitely agree. although i thought the same thing about the un-oaked version. have you tried that?

i could see them being good if you're into malty ipas though...

I normally don't enjoy malty IPAs unless they use English hops. This one I'm doing my best to sip and down it just because I'm cheap and hate to waste beer.

Yes I am still sipping this thing after 40 minutes.
