How do i get and avatar?

Best thing to do is leverage google:

Use the advanced search:

or append your search term in google with
site:homebrewtalk.com

ex. If searching for CO2 type
CO2 site:homebrewtalk.com

There's a bug in either php, this bbs software or SQL that limits search terms of less than 4 characters.

Lousy search engines aren't just a BB problem. I supported Sun systems for years and it was always easier to use AltaVista or Google to search Sun's sites.
