I am brewing this weekend and thought I'd use up some of my ingredients on hand for a recipe but am a little off. I have 4oz choc malt and 12oz crystal 40L (total of 1lb). The recipe calls for 1 lb. Crushed Grain Mix (1/2 50 L Crystal & 1/2 Chocolate).

How will what I have make the taste and/or color differ from what is called out? It is a new castle Brown ale clone and have all the remaining ingredients per the recipe.

Any help is appreciated.

With less chocolate malt, it'll be lighter colored and not as "coffee" flavored. Chocolate malt doesn't taste like chocolate, it has more of a coffee note from the roasted grain.

I think it'll be fine, but not exactly the same recipe. It may be a hint less roasty and a bit more sweet.
