You think I can't watch porn and play Fallout at the same time?

I'll just let you all know that there's a "fap-boy" mod that replaces your pip boy.

I wont tell you more than that to make it sound like a bigger deal than it actually is.

Word of advice, which I discovered the hard way:

Saving the game isn't something you can come back to if you allow a second person to play a separate character. The new character's autosaves will OVERWRITE your manual saves, causing you to lose all that progress.

EDIT

False alarm: there's a button (on the PC, it's T) you can press to switch between the saves of individual characters.

My nephew pointed that out. That is good that its a entirely separate. There should me no way that it'll erase all your progress. I need better armor. I die too quickly and sometimes do not realize how low health I am

I agree that a lot of the RPG aspects are very simplified to a more FPS style (similar to the progression of the Mass Effect trilogy).

While I'm not near the point yet, I do have worries about the lack of level cap turning things into "God Mode", and when I level up, there's no feeling of strategy when selecting one perk vs. another, just "eh, I'll get that one next time." Why make a stealth build or a tank build when you can be good at everything?

I've also noticed what they said about the false impression of choices and the way they shoehorn you into following the same path more or less. I've been putting off the main story for a while, but I've been in situations where every speech option leads you to the same end result, with only slight variations in the dialogue.

So yeah, I like the game on its own merits, but as a Fallout game it falls short in some respects.

Not sure why, but when I responded to an attack at one of my settlements (Abernathy farm), one of the settlers turned on me after the SuperMutants were all dead. Not sure why, as I didn't use anything with explosive or splash damage (used a recon .50 sniper rifle for the whole fight), and the only things I hit were big, green, and shooting at me in the first place.

No biggie. Killed that settler, then killed the rest when they got mad at me for defending myself. The recruitment beacon will bring more. In the meantime, I need to build more fences.

Sheathe your weapon. It can stop some battles (SPOILERISH - highlight to see "one in particular where you want to keep a raider type alive") when you have accidentally angered someone.

That was actually one of the first things I tried. Then I figured, who needs Mr Abernathy anyway. Then that escalated to "you're all replaceable, stop shooting at me". Now I just have to wait for the recruitment beacon to do it's thing.

I like the way you think.

While you guys were havin the time of your lives, building settlements and connecting power lines and scrapping stuff for screws and cooking up adhesive... All I did was fly a heli around with a sawed off and blast people in the face. Then I got in this boring car chase and jumped in the vehicle from my car and stabbed the dude in the throat and stole his cargo.

Then I just defused some lame bombs and went through the menial task of shooting everyone within 100 miles in the face.

Obviously I'm doing video games wrong.

...So far, however, I do not get the same sense of desolation that I got from FO3.

Yes. This to me is the biggest difference. FO3 was much more sparse. That game really creeped me out to play. You never felt safe just walking. You almost never saw anyone, and when you did, they almost always wanted to kill you. And some of the places you came across that had blood and body parts smeared all over the walls...just a creepy as hell vibe.

To this day, that game had the creepiest vibe to me.

FO4 is much more populated and there are actually civilizations to encounter.

Of course, I can't recall the exact circumstances, but I've had a couple of "holy crap, this is creepy/twisted/sick" moments in FO4 so far.

For me, the biggest creep-boost from 3 to 4 is the way the ghouls are just lying around until you "wake them up." I've learned to headshot every dead body I see before getting too close. I also dig the way they slither from overhead and through windows.

What creeps me out is the way they shamble towards you and then sprint.......I'm not sure why it's so creepy to me but it is.

Mods that will "fix" the settlements:

Simple Intersections will allow you to build fences close together.
Planters will allow you to build the planters you find in GreyGarden, which will allow you to plant things in dirt that should be plantable (and most other surfaces, but you can choose not to plant food on tables if you want to play the game "as intended")

Many others, found here.

Sorry to fanboy over this but the trailer for the FF7 remake was released yesterday...
Sure does look purdy

Yes, but do you get a jetpack?

I'm going to interrupt the FO4 slobber with a little picture of my "Freedom Cannon":

I had a bad weekend. When I finally got to sit down for a few minutes, I painted my favorite sniper rifle. The other side has the German flag. My friend would've approved. I made a matching combat knife.

Another question, what are the best crafting items to pick up when out and about without weighing you down? I've been grabbing up all the adhesive I come across but that's about it...

Get yourself some power armor and occasionally go on scavenging trips. The armor allows you to carry a lot more than you can otherwise and then fast travel back to your base and dump it off. I haven't gotten far in the main quest at all yet, Ive been playing side quests and exploring.....so now im Level 32 and I really haven't scratched the surface of the main quests. I have always loved the exploration factor in these games.

I'm lvl 37, and all I've done in the main quest was get told I need to loot something off one of the Institute's synths. (see, no spoilers!)

As for what to look for, I like to be on the lookout for Copper, Oil, Adhesive (you can craft that), Crystal, and Gears. Everything else is plentiful enough. There is a perk, that with enough points, will highlight nearby containers which have those crafting components you have tagged for search. (think it was either scavver or scrapper).

In other games, I'm having a hard time staying interested in Diablo 3. The gear (or ancient versions of what I need) never drop unless you're running difficulties higher than you're capable of with the gear you currently have. It seems you're required to join other people's games and have THEM carry you through those higher difficulties so you can get the gear required to survive.

Oh no no no, don't give up on D3 that easily if you haven't put in the time! I have 3 copies of that game still after giving one away and I've played it since it's release. It's a beautiful game. The point is to work your way up. Once you can handle Torment 1, the loot game will pick up. There's no need to rush it, finding the gear is the whole point. As you gain paragon levels, you'll become much more powerful anyway, especially around paragon 100 which comes a lot faster than you'd think.

If you absolutely feel the need for better gear, the quickest thing to do is blast through some bounties. The horadric cache from Tyrael can give you some really great rewards; the Royal Ring of Grandeur is the most sought coveted item from the cache. The biggest thing however, is using the shards to gamble at Kadala. With a little luck, she'll give you a few set pieces and you'll be well on your way into torment levels.

Damn you. Now I want to go get another 50 paragon levels or so. They had just added some huge updates last time I signed in too..

Running around in power armor is great, but it drains the fusion cores and they are hard to come by just scavenging... Any tips on that?

Don't run around?

Consolidate loot, FT to power armor, FT to loot. Load up and trade excess to companion. FT home and dump.

I think someone else here said you can pickpocket BOS for cores too.

Get the ammo scrounging perk. I believe it helps with finding cores too. Look for the generator things in buildings and remove them from those. Steal from brotherhood. Swap cores out when you are < 5-10% charge. They still sell for the same rate. Buy them from retailers whenever you see them. Max the intelligence skill that makes them last longer (goes up to making them last 2X as long). Oh, kill all robots, especially the big strong ones. I think that I got 3 off of one of them.

Man. The talk of Diablo 3 has me needing more mindless monster slaying and loot grabbing. Anyone know of any cheapy games on PS Store that might be like that? I had one on PS3, just haven't looked on 4 yet.
