Does anyone know if these pumps can be used with a speed control or will that bur out the motor.... Just a thought it may be better to use that way than restricitng the fluid lines.

After a lengthy battle with a mag drive pump while helping a friend with a 15+ gallon AG pilsner brew (great experience!), I wouldn't advise trying to use a speed controller or put some sort of resistance between the motor and power supply. That motor needs to run at full speed, or you risk getting it REALLY hot and burning it out. Do as Ed suggests above.

I tried using a speed controller as well and ended up removing it. Because of the way the pump is connected to the motor, restricting the outlet doesn't cause any problems. The pump just slips.
