I know we all have different things we take on outside of brewing and working to support our brewing.
I'd like to share my main one as of late-
I've been (very slowly as life gets in the way) working on rebuilding a 1972 Porsche 914 that I bought back in 1998 while still in high school.
It's been a long journey, but this past week, it passed NYS inspection and is now cruising the roadways of Upstate New York.
It was a complete rustbucket when I bought it, and throughout the late 90's and early 2000's my father and I worked on stripping it out and repairing the rust. He had owned a new one back in the early 70's, and then bought one again in 2007.
When I went off to college in 2001, it went into storage and sat for quite a few years. Around 2007, my wife gave me the ultimatum of fix it or get rid of it, so out of storage it came and a slow restoration continued. At the time, the rust was settled, but it was still a basket case:

Since getting back from paint in 2008 - kids, a second masters and work travel continued to slow progress, but finally, the fuel injection got sorted out and the reassembly neared completion.... just in time to put it in storage last fall. So, I put the first 6 miles on it since I had bought it 13 years prior driving it to the storage unit, and it was awesome.
Back out if came this spring for the finishing touches. There are some minor things to complete, but I plan to enjoy it as much as I can between now and winter. My daughter seems more excited about "daddy's '14" than I am.
