Insane, right ?? I thought I would give it a shot since I have a ton of 2 row on hand ,wanted to make a pale ale and needed a little something to darken her up... I put a pound and a half in a roasting pan (about 3/4 inch deep), set the oven to 275 for 60 mins, and stirred every 10.. It smelled awesome ! Then I cranked it up to 350 for 30mins, that's when things got interesting.. It looks good but there was a good bit of smoke in the house and now I'm sitting in the living room with stinging eyes and a hanging thin smoke in the air...

So if you want to give it a shot, keep it at 275 or GO OUTSIDE !!

i toasted some maris otter at 350 for 10 minutes, i think any longer would have been bad... but the end result smelled really good

I made some black malt at like 450F. There was some smoke going on I went a little overboard and it contributed a little too much acrid bitterness.
