Did you use plain old table sugar in place of malt extract somewhere along the way or ferment at unusually high temps?
 
There are two possible flavors for apple, Ethyl Hexanoate (more red apple) and Acetaldehyde (more green apple). Ethyl Hex, caused by yeast flavors, Acetaldehyde can be caused from yeast flavors, but will show up in over oxygenated beer or contaminating bacteria.
