Brewing Tonight - Holiday Ale - Question

Hello.
I am brewing this beer

Tonight. The directions call for me to add the spices during the 2nd hop - for flavor.

I have read that people have added spices more to the secondary instead of to the wort.

What are your thoughts? Anyone brew this one before? Advice? I usually trust AHS they have been very good to me. But you know how it is ... the more I read the more I question. Any direction would be great.

With Hallertau and Saaz hops, I'd want a lesser spice presence. I'd follow the recipe, as-is.

I really do not even know what to expect as far as taste from this reciepe.. we are having a party in DEC and I wanted to brew up something for it.
