I wouldn't use it. In order to prevent overshoots you want to measure the wort return temperature at the output of the RIMS. I don't think you will accomplish that with this setup. You don't want the sensor too far from the element but I think this is a little too close.
 
Thanks for your opinion. Im going to take a chance and try it. I can always change it if it doesn't work. I'll monitor the MLT temp to see if there is any difference. I'll let you know what the outcome is.
