2 different yeasts in one brew

The ale I am brewing now stopped fermenting after 2 days. I found out the yeast was not happy with too much malt, so I put in another ale yeast but there has been no fermenting signs. Is this a bad sign? What happens to the yeast in the brew if there are no fermentable sugars for it to consume? Can I still bottle the beer without serious consequences? Thanks
