It's not so much the hobbies that irritate my wife.
It's more to do with "How much saving" I seem to convince myself said hobby will cost.
At this point, it prolly would have been cheaper to take up golf or buy a boat.

Yup - it's the equivalent to "look how much I saved at the mall by spending $200!" Try as I may, the math just doesn't support it.
Star with an expensive hobby like classic car restoration, then move to brewing. It will seem a bargain in comparison!

i retorted "it is I who consume them!", in my best snooty harvard accent, whirled while belting a hefty quaff, and stormed from the room. It's like a noel coward play around here, only without all the sophistication. Kind of like a spanish soap opera...
