From what I have been reading and looking at I feel more reassured that its ok. But I would like some extra opinions. I am about 2 weeks in and the mother is lodged up against the forming baby. The area in question is where the mother is. It looks green but is not on top layer. The baby also is pretty thin so far too, but being in the winter the temp is on the low side for making kombucha. What do you think?

Lifetree,
Warm it up and you will get better formation, but from what I see you look normal. Place it in a box on top of water heater or refrig, wrap in a towel and tuck in a warm kitchen cabinet. The green you may see underneath may actually be brown deposits of yeast cells. As long as nothing is fuzzy.

Here is a quick pic of some kombucha I have right now. Need to start a new batch actually.
