My chest freezer seems like it's giving out. It's slowly been building temperature (last month it would stay at 50, this month at 53). The compressor constantly runs. It's not the Johnson controller, I checked that by putting an ice cube on it until it shut down the compressor (it's hard-wired, so I can't easily take it out of line).
I took everything out yesterday and defrosted it, let it sit for 5-6 hours, then plugged it back in. Temp was at 62, was only down to 53 by tonight. There are no coils to be cleaned.
It's been freezing up at the upper left corner for a while, so something in the walls is getting cold enough to make it ice up. So it confuses me why it's not working.
Here are two pictures of the lines near the compressor. It appears to be corrosion, but I wasn't sure if it's actually freon leaking from that area.
So, am I screwed?
