I don't think cheese's healthy religious debate thread should have been closed. We are all grown-ups and should be allowed to express our freedom of speech. Hell, most of us have paid money to support and post to this forum. Now on the other hand if things get out of control then someone should step in and calm it down. We aren't kids.:tank:

It's been tried in the past and it always goes south. Always. There are other forums for those discussions.

I agree with Cheyco. There are just a few topic that should NOT be discussed because they can make enemies out of the best of friends and divide a community into factions.

When it comes to things like politics and religion, no amount of debate will change someone's mind, so only harm can come from the discussions.

If you want to discuss politics and religion, there are forums out there for those things (as Cheyco says), or use your private messages.

I agree with you both.:mug: It just seemed like a slap in the face is all.

I can see where you're coming from. There are many people who would have either kept it clean or not posted but there are always a few who ruin it.

true dat!

it just seems like all we talk about is beer and porn;)

The problem with those discussions is that someone's feelings get hurt and then I have to send 19 PMs to cheer them up and keep them around here. :p

No, really, if you wanna talk about that stuff, the internet is a great place to find interesting controversial subjects. Not here. :D

:ban: Send it my way i can solve your problem!!!!!:mug:

well the problem is I'm too cheap to by another keg right now and my munich didn't turn out so great but it's drinkable. The PRA however rocks and is aging nicely in the secondary!

There are many other places where politicos and believers can go "Nah, Nah" at each other. No amount or form of evidence will change people's minds on these topics.

Really good brewing forums are rare, so let's stick to the topic. Hydrometers are NOT evil!

Preach on, brother david_42! (religious pun INTENDED!!!)

Yeah, I mean, I see it like this... Is a religous website, chat site or whatever, the proper place to discuss beer and porn? It probably wouldnt happen that way either. I am totally content just discussing beer, like the 5 gallons that is coming out of the primary this weekend!

And what would the 5G be? I can't brew this weekend, and I racked and bottled earlier this week, so I need to live vicariously though all of you this weekend.

The one thing that would have been really nice, had the thread been kept open...

I would *LOVE* to hear BrewPastor's religious perspective. If I were in NM, I'd seek out his church (and I am anything but a churchgoer) to hear what he has to say. At the very least, I'm sure he would have an extremely interesting point of view.

It is my own wheat recipe...

American 2 Row Pale (4lbs)/Wheat Malt (5.5 lbs)/American Crystal 20L (.5 lbs)/Black Malt (1oz.)

.5oz Hallertau
.5oz Kent Goldings

I used Windsor in it... I like that yeast, within 9 hours it had a krausen and was churning like mad.

I agree with you on the interesting point of view, and I'd be the first to belly up for communion. Far from making a religious move, here, but I'd like to nominate Brewpastor as the Forum's chaplain. I'd be proud to have that cat as my pastor.
