Difference between rubber stopper drilled and solid

This may be a dumb question, but I'm adding another carboy to my collection and I was curious what the difference between the two are

A drilled rubber stopper has a hole in it, so you can insert a blowoff tube or an airlock. A solid stopper doesn't
