Mounting my C02 Tank Outside My Danby?

Looking for advice. http://www.danby.com/cms/products/en_manual/DCR34W_BL%28web%29.pdf This website has the specifications for my Mini Fridge (btw a 3.2Cu Ft. WILL fit a corny and 15# C02), but it seems to be telling me that the coolant lines run inside the side walls of the unit. I felt...

Never panic until the FG reading is in...

I brewed a batch of Edwort`s Kolsch a couple of weeks ago using saaz as my flavouring hop. Evertyhing went well on my brew day and hit temps and volume dead on. To my surprise my cooled OG reading was 1.034 (10 points lower than expected). I was convinced that I`d have a tasty 3% session ale...

    Saazing Edwort's Kolsch

Looking to give my next batch of Edwort's Kolsch the Saaz treatment. Just wondering if anyone has done this. I was thinking of sticking with Perle for bittering and replacing the Tetnanger with Saaz keeping the aau's the same. Thoughts?

good night for a cold brew, how Abbott my very first bottle of my own AG?

Popped open my very first bottle of my own AG version of Edwort's Kolsch and was Blown Away. This was the batch I thought would be awful because I boiled off a gallon more than I should have, but wow! My confidence in my ability to brew great beer is sky high. Next time, Saaz in the kettle I...

Is it normal to want to smell my airlock?

It smells like a fairy has sprinkled pure wonder and amazement into my airlock. This is my first AG batch and NOTHING I have done can compare. Pumped to get this one into the bottles.

    First Ever AG in Progress

I'm in the process of brewing Edwort's Kolsch as my first AG brew. Hit the strike water dead on (thanks Beersmith!)and has held 151 for 35 minutes now. Will keep updating as the process unfolds. Fantastic experience.

    stir during batch sparge?

Different sources say to put x amount of water gently, stir, wait 10 min drain and repeat with all of your sparge volume to extract the most sugar. Will this be effective? Any other suggestions?

Man, I don't think these Festa Wheat Beers will make it to summer

I brewed this batch after a subpar experience with their Cream Ale and WOW. I'm moving to AG this weekend but for the time and effort this will definitely keep the bottles (and fingers crossed if SWMBO agrees, kegs) full for the summer.

    Pumped for first AG!

I just had to post a pic of my boil setup. My mash tun is leak free and held temp for 90+minutes in my test run:rockin: I'm doing Edwort's Kolsch first and then Haus Pale the next brew. Anyone ever do a Kolsch with Saaz? I am planning to follow Edwort's recipe but I do have Saaz on hand and...

    3 Gallon Score!

I found that the local hardware store switched to a new distributor for water sales which brought in these beauties for $9.99 (including refill): Pretty pumped as they are PET (or mobius loop 1) and will fit in my fridge to allow me to lager:ban:

    Evaporative cooling

Does anyone do this? Basically (if I understand properly) you put your fermenter in a larger bucket of cool water with a wet t-shirt over it and the evaporation of the water from the shirt also cools the fermenter and, by association, the wort. I was thinking of trying this with a Festa Brew...

If you bottle with caps, get a bench capper. Seriously.

That is all. Cut my bottling time in half with no hassle.

What to do about a brew pot?

I am looking forward to trying my hand at AG using some of Edwort's recipes (starting with his Kolsch made with Saaz aroma hops) but I'm confused by whether or not the setup I'm eying will work well. I was looking at a 32qt (8Gal) Turkey Fryer setup (pot and gas burner). I think that the boil...

Will this make a good Kegerator?

Looking at this fridge on Kijiji. Its a 4.5 Cubic Ft. G.E. Mini Fridge. I know a great deal of mods would be needed to fit 2 cornys and a small C02 but I was curious if anyone has built with this model. It seems like it should be simple enough to pull the door hardware off and shave some foam to...

What's the worst that could happen?

Thinking of doing a festa brew continental pilsner without lagering :o I can easily accomplish the correct temp range for a saflager s_23 brew but have no lagering equipment.

    How do I cap these?

My suspicion is that I need a 29mm bell for my bench capper. Any thoughts?

    Edwort's apfelvein question

I put up a batch of Edwort's recipe last night but noticed I am 850ml short of 5 gallons. I also used 2.2 lbs of corn sugar instead of 2lbs. My questions are: 1) will it be unbearably strong? 2) can I add my missing bottle of juice after work today?

    Festa Brew Undercarbed... Thoughts?

Cracked open a festa cream ale from a grolsch bottle after a week and it is almost flat. I know 1 week is not much time, but I put 3/4 cup of dextrose/2 cups boiled water in bottling bucket and swirled in while racking after cooling. The instructions in retrospect call for 1 to 1 1/2 cups...

    Modified Palmer Recipe Look Okay?

Just wondering if a tweak to this recipe will be palatable 4.00 lb Amber Dry Extract (12.5 SRM) Dry Extract 44.4 % 5.00 lb Pale Liquid Extract (8.0 SRM) Extract 55.6 % 1.50 oz Challenger [8.30%] (60 min) Hops 23.2 IBU 0.50 oz Cascade [6.00%] (30 min) Hops 4.3 IBU 0.50 oz Cascade...
