    Gremlin's in my MASH tun

OK this one I can not figure out at all. I brewed a batch out of radical brewing. It was the 1776 Porter. The OG should have been around 1.063. (13.5lbs grain, 4.5lbs of each amber, brown, and English Pale malt. What I got after the boil was 1.045 with 5.5gals of wort. The was not good...

How much grain do I actually need?

Like all have said aready around 9 pounds of base grain plus any specialty gain should give you a noraml gravity beer (around 5%ABV). This is always been a good place for me to start then make ajustments from there on the next batch.

    I have seen the light

You speak the truth, and I am not saying that extract beer is bad because I did 9-10 beers from extract and they where all good but not as good as I would have liked them. I think it is a taste thing maybe?

    I have seen the light

OK a few weeks ago I was talking to my wife about the beer we have been makeing. I was telling her that there was a sweet taste in all the beers that we have done(9-10). I could not figure out what it was. So I started AG brewing and just opened my first AG, and you know what I found that...

    aerating the wort

All is good info. Here is my 2 cents. It would be ideal to put has mush O2 in the wort as you can. The wort will only hold so much. Just like and liquid. I use the O2 bottle to do this and it works very well. The beer seems to start faster and finish quicker and also seems to be more...

    Going all grain..first question

I use a copper pipe that I have taken a cutting wheel on a demal motor tool too. I put the cut facing down and it works like a champ. I run about a quart or two thru it and let the run off go into the pot. If you do wheat beers (50% or more of it being Wheat) I would use about 1/2 lb of rice...

All Grain: What is the advantage?

Here it is. AG is cheaper once you get the equipment and control. ex baking a cake from a box or from scrach. Don't get me wrong boxed cake is not bad but moms home made one is better. hehehehe

    Fermenation Blues

DragonTail if you notice I said that the gravity is 2 points high, this reading was taken from a hydrometer. But the info you provided was usefull. I have six primary and six secondary fermenters but I just dont have any more room for more of them. Trust me I wish I did. I think I need to...

All my beers finish at 1.020. Help!

Unstable temp could be a big problem, you can shell shock the yeast and they will not do there job like there are suppost to do. BUT I think that your DME is very good place to make a change and see what happens. Also a little O2 could not hurt anything.

    Fermenation Blues

OK I have a problem and need some advise. I have a Rotfort10 in the primary that has been in there for 28 day and is now down to 1 bubble every 43 seconds. I like to trasfer to the secondary after 1 bubble every 1 min. So here is the problem that beer needs to come off the trub but all my...

    and another 1st time AGer

I use a round cooler. I really think my mistake was in the Strike temp I refigured it and came up with 162F. That is 9 deg lower them what I came up with last time. I also did not take a temp of the grain before I started. I just used the room temp, I measured the gain sitting in the pantry and...

No there is still alot of yeast on top. So I will let it sit and brew something else. I will check in a few days or so. But I think that it will be going for some time. I must of pitch one hell of a batch of yeast into it. But thats good. I will let them eat them selfs to death.
