HBT- this one is for you

It's impossible to really qualify how much help this forum has been to me, especially the beginner's section, but I wanted to say thanks anyway. Besides a couple buddies of mine who brew, this and Palmer's book have been my primary sources of information, and only one of those two can actually...

Kegs arriving in 2 days, need a plan

I have read so many threads on kegging that I can't keep it all straight, so I want to get some specific advice now before my kit arrives. 1) After unpacking everything, do I need to clean it all (kegs, lines, etc)? Or do I just clean the kegs with some OxyClean and then sanitize them? 2)...

    Submitted beer to county fair...disappointed

I entered a beer to our county fair, and I had high hopes; I took the Easiest Beer I Have Ever Made recipe and gave it a few minor tweaks, which turned out awesome. It fermented a bit high, but all in all people seemed to really like it. I was shocked to see that I got 26.2 out of 50 points...

    Suggestions on Kegging setup (x-post)

I'm putting this over here, as I have a hard time getting replies in the other sub-forums...perhaps because my questions are so...beginner :drunk: Here's the link: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f35/advice-kegging-rig-greatly-appreciated-260764/ Thanks guys!

Advice on Kegging Rig Greatly Appreciated

Hey all, I've read so many posts on kegging setups that my head is starting to spin, so I thought I'd bring it to the forum. I want a 2-keg setup with pin locks (assuming they are cheaper than ball), a 5 or 10-lb co2 cylinder, and a dual regulator where I can dispense from one keg and...

    Pelican Ankle Buster

I just had this tonight, and man is it a good beer! Has anyone had it, and do you know of an extract recipe for something similar? I couldn't find a clone, but someone with a more adept palate may be able to suggest a similar brew.

Blonde Ale Extract Recipe- How's it look?

I went into my favorite brew store in Vancouver, WA (Bader's, if you're in the area) for a 5-gallon Better Bottle to use as a secondary, and decided to peruse the recipes. I mentioned that I wanted something light that my girlfriend would like, and the guy scampered off and gathered the...

    Third batch in the bucket

I'm happy to say that I brewed my third batch last night, and it's in the basement (hopefully) fermenting as we speak. It's a Sierra Nevada-like (not clone) pale, which is going by Pioneer Pale Ale. I'm an Oregonian, so the name makes sense due to that, plus it's my first pale so there's another...

Wort chiller when adding extracts late?

Tonight I was feeling a little rambunctious, so I brewed a Sierra Nevada clone. Things went pretty well, especially after my mishaps this weekend with the summer ale. Anyway, the recipe called for 1 cup of LME to start the boil, and the rest of the LME and the DME after the boil. That seemed...

Questions about "easiest beer i ever made"

In case you're not sure what I'm referring to, this is the thread: https://www.homebrewtalk.com/f39/easiest-beer-i-have-ever-made-recipe-208450/ So, you may have noticed I've posted a few times in there, and I wanted to ask my questions in my own thread so I wouldn't muck that one up. 1)Will...

First brew in the bottles- Thanks HBT!

After reading the forum for weeks, brewing my first batch, asking stupid newbie questions, reading some more, doing a few panicked searches, buying some unnecessary-but-awesome tools (toys), a few more newbie questions, and a final search on the forum...I've brewed and bottled my first batch...

DIY Wort Chiller- Any Real Savings?

After countless hours of research and comparison, I decided that I would just make my immersion chiller myself; after all, all you really need to do is wrap the copper around a cylindrical object, and attach some hoses for the inlet and outlet. This page, along with a Don Osborn video, were...

    Irish Red Ale Fermentation

Hey all, I've been lurking for a few weeks here, and just registered so I could figure this out. Before it gets asked, yes, I have searched the forum, but there's nothing that exactly answers my question. Just did my first batch of Irish Red Ale from Midwest Supplies, and followed it...
