    No Rinse Sanitizers

I've ruined 3 batches using star san. I obviously used way too much. I didn't let the sanatized carboy dry out either before I used it. Pretty dissapointing. Since then I've used way less and let the equipment dry before use and have had no problems. My only advise is to pay attention to...

    yeast starter is lookin funky

Here is the light ale. The happy guys in the background from left to right are, IPA, Honey Wheat, and a Honey Ale from More Beer. Those floaties you see on the sides. They aren't moving up and down. They are stuck to the side. I've never seen anything ferment like this before.

    yeast starter is lookin funky

I'm glad I stumbled onto this thread. I brewed a batch of light ale yesterday and my yeast was the WLP002. It started fermenting in about 5 hours and looked like nothing I had seen before. I was actually sitting down tonight to find out what a contaminated batch looked like. Sounds like I...

    Delima

I've got a honey wheat that hits 5 weeks tomorrow. I don't have my co2 tank or regulator yet and won't till about mid week. Will it be possible to carb my beer in just a couple of days so I can have my first glass a week from tomorrow (5/27)? Everything that I have read states that the wheat...

It's so sad when you're first brew is gone.

At least you guys know what its like to drink your own brew. I started brewing a month ago and am closing in on my first batch being ready. I don't think I will have a problem of running out once I get started, I've got 4 batches in secondary and one in the primary. I'm getting ready to start...

    Carboy cap or drilled bung????

Nice post. Thanks for the info. :mug:

    Carboy cap or drilled bung????

This may be a stupid question but here I go. Is there any benefit to having a drilled bung or stopper as opposed to having a 2 hole carboy cap?? I've got both and have noticed that with the stopper, during fermentation, the stopper will rise a bit. I now have a couple of caps for my 6.5...

    Really Rough first brew.

It's been about 36 hours since the brew and the yeasties are flying :p I've got about 3 1/2 gal in the fermentor and I am not adding water. I plan on conditioning this beer for about 3 to 4 months in a keg and then diviing in. Thanks for everyones support. :mug:

    Really Rough first brew.

You won't believe this. I came home today @ 3 P.M. and my brew was going crazy. The lock was bubbling every 2 or 3 seconds and the yeast was jumping up and down the carboy. It may work out after all. My next question is should I add water after the fermentation when I go to secondary??? I...

    Really Rough first brew.

Yea, I boiled the HELL out of it. I got one of those banjo cookers and that thing throws off some crazy heat. I did turn it down quite a bit after the boil started but not nearly enough. Like the post said, I boiled down from 6 gal to 3 gal in one hour. I'm learning. :)
