    Leak question

Something I always check now just in case is using soapy water and spraying it on my regulator as well. I fought a tiny leak one time for a while and then happen to hear a tiny hiss when moving my CO2 bottle. Come to find out one of my pressure gauges somehow just started leaking. Might have...

breaking bottles with my capper / broken ?

I use this bench top capper: http://www.highgravitybrew.com/productcart/pc/Bottle-Capper-Agata-Bench-128p2536.htm#.U35trvldWKI I have never used a 2 handed capper for beer bottles. With the bench top I have for beer, I have never broken a bottle with it.

    Which faucet is best?

Looks like you made up your mind and I was just going to say Perlick is the way to go. I had the cheap standard taps and broke one because it stuck. Went to the Perlick 525ss taps and never had one stick at all. Also super easy to clean.

    Oklahoma Craft Beer Festival 2014

Awesome. So far I have been to each one. The wife and I have a really good time. I would highly suggest getting a hotel room close by. For anyone who has not been before there are quite a few breweries, live music, food, tents, and great company. They hand out a plastic taster with a OKC...

    Grain sack carboy cover

I just old dark T-shirts. I then use a close pin to pinch the extra neck fabric to make it cover the top a bit more. This works for carboys, and I would imagine if the shirt was large enough you could fit it around a bucket.

Mold on top of fermentor bucket

Another way to keep your bucket cool is to get a much larger bucket like those metal wash tubs you can usually find at like home depot or Lowes. I have also used a plastic storage container which is nice because if you get one with a lid you can cut a hole in the middle and put it around your...

    Forgot to take OG reading

First off Welcome and happy brewing!!! Secondly... yes I use buckets still sometimes when I have to, but I dont trust the airlock activity in a bucket. Sometimes you may get little tiny leaks around the gasket of the lid and it will cause the airlock to not bubble. I now use keg lube on the...

    Used soda keg

Just a little trick that someone showed me once that you and others might be interested in. If you put the top onto the keg and do not latch it yet, lift up the keg into the air by the latch then put air on it while in the air it will seal quickly. If you have an shutoff you can hook up the gas...

    Keg Clog

Does your dip tube hit the bottom of the keg? (sounds like a dirty joke) If it goes all the way to the bottom, you might cut about a quarter inch to half inch off the bottom of the dip tube if you have the tools to do it. This should help not picking up the sediment that may still fall out while...

where to find co2 refill on long island?

I cant speak for Long Island, but 2 other places you can check besides a Welding supply store is #1 your local homebrew shop. Many of them where I live will refill CO2. #2 you can try a paintball store.

    Leaky Fermenter

I have had issues with "leaky" buckets before as well. It should be fine. I wouldnt worry about transferring it if you dont have to. If you plan on buying a glass carboy anyway you can transfer it just like you would for a secondary and let it settle out more before bottling/kegging. If you are...

    First Beer Finished

First... Grats on your first brew. If you can help it dont keep more than a 6 pack in the fridge at a time. Like the other posts have said they get better with a little age. Also keeps you from drinking them fast :) Also if you want your beer to last longer... hurry up and get that second...

How to make a yeast starter - Pictorial

DB I just wanted to say thank you for this information. I have been brewing for a couple of years and waited way to long to start using Yeast Starters. I have heard about doing this for a long time and what got me started was I got a bad yeast once. If I was using a starter I would have know it...

    Questions about c02 and kegerator

I cant answer all of your questions but I can give you some advice on 2 & 4. 2. Yes I would get a spare tank. For me its not easy to fill up every day of the week. If I run out of CO2 on a weekend I am SOL until monday. Usually I have noticed that by the time the pressure on the regulator...

    Stir plate help?

More than likely you will need 12v to make it spin. I noticed on the one I was building I was using a power supply that was not quite 12v and it would bairly spin and constantly stop. If I pushed it with my finger it would spin for a second then stop again. When I put a little extra weight on...

    My DIY Kegerator Project

Thank you It was fairly easy to do. I purchased some metal paint and primer from Lowes. It was a liquid paint and I used foam rollers to put it on. Probably could have easily had it done in 2 days, but a few distractions and waiting for it to dry between coats takes its toll. Its pretty...

    My DIY Kegerator Project

I have been wanting to do a Kegerator for the garage for a while. I have a mini kegerator already in the house and wanted to move everything out. So I found this cheap fridge on the internet for $20. Its an old banged up Kenmore. Had lots of scratches and dents, but still worked well. So I...
